Downtown PKB’s holiday promotion committee is finalizing details for Winterfest, a new family-fun event sponsored by Downtown PKB. The event is scheduled for Saturday, December 5th from 4-6:30 p.m. on the corner of 3rd and Market Streets in Bicentennial Park.

Parkersburg’s Christmas parade will also be held on December 5th at 2 p.m. and make its way down Market Street to downtown. The theme of this year’ parade is “Let’s Go to the Movies.” If you are interested in having a float or marching in the parade or for more information, contact Clear Channel Radio Station.

Downtown PKB has lined up programming to engage the community and invite them to stay downtown and experience a wide variety of activities throughout downtown Parkersburg.

Our lineup of events includes free horse-drawn carriage rides, kid’s craft stations and picture opportunities with Santa. Several establishments will also be open to the public, free of charge.

Festivities will conclude with the lighting of the City’s Christmas tree at Bicentennial Park and a fireworks display choreographed to holiday music by Zambelli fireworks at 6 p.m. After the fireworks display, families are welcome to stop by St. Francis Xavier Church for a special holiday musical concert at 7 p.m.

Winterfest Storefront Decorating Contest will also take place on December 5th from 4 – 6 p.m. Visitors will be asked to vote for their favorite downtown window/façade display by placing change into parking meters designated for each participating downtown storefront. Proceeds from the contest will go to Downtown PKB’s design committee’s special projects fund for future improvements to downtown.
